MSD Admission Process
We are thrilled to talk to families about Montessori School of Denver! You’ll find MSD’s Admission staff are friendly, available, and know the answer to just about any question you have about MSD! Here’s your roadmap for MSD’s admission process. Jump in and get started, and let us know if you have any questions!
1: Inquire
The first step is to send us an Inquiry so we can learn more about you and answer all of your questions. Click here to get in touch!
2: Visit our Campus
Visit us for an official tour or open house. A Montessori environment offers a unique educational experience that can only be truly appreciated by seeing it in action. Join us for an opportunity to visit the classrooms, explore outdoor learning spaces, and engage with teachers and students. We are currently hosting classroom peeks with families by appointment only.
3: Apply Online
The application deadline for the first round of admission for the 2023-2024 school year is Friday, January 6, 2023. The application deadline for siblings of current students is Friday, November 18, 2022. We ask that all families visit our campus prior to submitting an application.
4: Submit Required Documents
Paperwork must be received by Friday, February 3, 2023. As you complete the application through the SchoolAdmin Parent Portal, you will note a checklist with additional items. Students who currently attend another educational setting are asked to provide Transcripts and a Teacher Recommendation. Electronic transcript and recommendation requests can be sent directly from the checklist to be shared with MSD. Middle School applicants are asked to complete a Supplemental Application. Your student’s application will be considered complete once materials are provided and proceeding steps are finalized.
5: Virtual Parent/Guardian Chat
Parent/Guardian Chats must be completed by Friday, February 10, 2023. When you enroll your child at MSD, your family joins an amazing community of parents committed to a successful partnership between school and home. We value that relationship and therefore recognize the importance of getting to know you, as well as your child. A parent/guardian chat is required with a member of the Administrative team to learn more about your family. During this time, we are also available to answer questions regarding our educational philosophy, program hallmarks, logistics, and any other questions you may have.
6: Student Visit
Admission visits are required for Primary through Middle School applicants and should be completed by Friday, February 17, 2023. At this time, they are not required for Toddler applicants. Our student visits allow prospective students to be able to participate in classroom activities and spend time with peers. This is a valuable time to connect with the MSD learning spaces and teachers, work with other students, and engage with Montessori materials. These visits also allow your family to gain a sense of our community.
A member of the admission team will be in touch to schedule a student visit. Student visits vary in length according to the program to which your child is applying.
7: Notification Dates
After the first round of notifications, we will continue rolling admission until all spaces are filled. We will work with families to complete the admission process as quickly as possible.
- Toddler notification is Tuesday, March 14, 2023.
- Primary (Pre-K/K) through Fifth Grade notification is Friday, March 3, 2023.
- Middle School notification is Friday, February 24, 2023.
- Notifications will be sent after 4pm via email.

I thought Montessori was just for preschool. How can I learn more?
Dr. Montessori extended her approach to children of all ages, even up to the secondary (high school) level. The benefits of Montessori—the emphasis on independent learning, the warm, supportive community—continue to be important at each stage of development as children grow into lifelong learners and responsible citizens. Check out Montessori FAQs here or reach out to learn more.
