COMING TOGETHER TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
A thriving community for the whole family
A thoughtful, inclusive community of engaged families is one of the greatest gifts we can give our children. Our families connect with our community and school on a deeper level, building relationships and putting down roots where our kids are growing and learning. We strive to be a place filled with compassion and empathy where everyone is welcome, and it shows: year after year, our families rank “a sense of belonging” very highly in both parent and student surveys.
At MSD, we deeply value parent involvement and gifts – of all kinds. Our families give their time, talent and treasure to support our kids and each other, coming together to make a difference for our school and the world beyond our campus.
How do parents contribute? They give their time – in a typical year, 250 parent volunteers log nearly ten thousand hours of volunteer service to MSD. They give their talent, whether that be sharing in a classroom or volunteering at events. And they give their treasure – supporting MSD’s Annual Fund each year.

BE A PART OF YOUR CHILD’S JOURNEY
Volunteering at MSD
Our amazing students come from some equally fantastic families. So we’re always excited to harness the talents and energy of the adults in our community. The Family Association of MSD (FAM) is our volunteer organization, and all parents and guardians of currently enrolled students are automatically members of the FAM.
From friend-raisers to fundraisers, the FAM offers all kinds of fun opportunities for supporting our school. Whether it’s spending time in the classroom, helping host community-building events, or holding fundraisers that bring the support needed to keep our school strong, volunteering at MSD is a win-win for everyone. Our parent volunteers enrich our community with energy, ideas, and enthusiasm, and also gain a better understanding of our school’s mission and educational philosophy.
Plus, our students develop self-confidence and greater self-esteem in a supportive environment that includes their peers, faculty, staff, and parents. Ultimately, our children learn the importance and gratification of giving back to their community the way their parents do.
